Fans in a lather
By MIKE ROSS -- Edmonton Sun
3Deep has come all the way to Edmonton to sing two songs.
You probably won't even be able to hear them when the pop trio performs at Cowboys tomorrow. Too much
screaming.
Consisting of two soap opera stars - Joshua Morrow (The Young and the Restless) and Eddie Cibrian (Sunset Beach,
Baywatch Nights) - plus Canadian secret weapon C.J. Huyer, 3Deep lives for the adoration of women. When they
recorded the single Into You, they were aiming directly at female hearts. Sample lyric: "I don't know why but I
sometimes cry/when I don't have you here by my side."
Oof - they hit.
Cibrian remembers the first time they sang for a large crowd. The women chanted like frenzied frogs, 3Deep! 3Deep!
"It was the biggest rush I've ever had in my entire life," Cibrian recalls.
Even bigger than becoming a hunkamola soap star? No comparison, he says.
The 25-year-old actor-turned-singer is on the phone from Los Angeles, where he just completed a gruelling day on the
set of Sunset Beach. He plays Cole Deschannel. An update: "My wife is upset and crying because she thinks that I
know that she stole our baby and that it's not really our baby ... you know, that soap opera thing. It's very confusing."
Maybe not as confusing as trying to juggle two careers, but Cibrian says it's always been his dream to be a singer.
Unlike the Backstreet Boys, say, 3Deep writes their own lyrics. It shows. Most of the songs on their just-released
debut album, Yes Yes Yes ... No No No (taken from a line in Austin Powers) gush freely on the subject of love. Make
that all the songs.
"Why have pessimism in your music? We just feel that we write optimistically," Cibrian says. "We write about hope,
we write about love, we write about hurt in love, but all good things, you know?"
We know. 3Deep will also be signing autographs at Kingsway Garden Mall Sunday morning at 11. Prepare for frenzy.
