Five star is heartbroken
Five's Ritchie Neville and pop singer Billie have officially broken up, but now they're telling a different story about who did the dumping.
Ritchie originally said that he broke up with Billie, but the U.K. pop singer is now changing his story, The London Sun reports.
The two had been dating for over a year when Billie left Ritchie a message on his phone telling him their relationship was over. Since Billie was about to release her new single, "Day And Night", her record company asked Ritchie to announce that he was the one who ended the affair. The record company was hoping fans would feel sorry for the broken-hearted Billie and buy her album (which hit number 1 in the U.K. last week).
"I was under pressure not to tell the truth about our split because certain people in the record industry didn't want to jeopardize Billie's chances of getting to No. 1," Ritchie said. "I didn't want to mess up her chances either, because I still love her."
Ritchie said that when he came home from Five's U.S. tour with the chicken pox, he discovered that Billie had moved out of the apartment the two shared in London.
"I rang to tell her I wanted to see her when I got home," he told The Sun. "She wasn't at the airport and wasn't at the flat when I got home. I couldn't believe it. I was really ill and all I wanted to do was see her. "I walked around shouting her name but there was no one there. I found a note saying she didn't want to be at the flat when I got home as she didn't want chicken pox."
Ritchie finally lost hope and went to stay with his mother. Three days later, Billie ended the relationship.
"She rang and left a message on my mobile saying, 'For the record, it's over'."
Ritchie went on to say that the two had been drifting apart for the past few months because he was away on tour and she was promoting her new single.
