The fantastic Five

By STEPHANIE McGRATH -- ALLPOP

INVINCIBLE
FIVE
(RCA-BMG)
[Enhanced]

Album Cover It's hard to keep track of all the new pop albums coming out but here's another one for your Christmas list.

U.K. pop band Five's new album "Invincible" slides comfortably into the pop world. The songs are catchy, easy to identify and filled with soothing harmonies.

This album won't be breaking any new territory in the pop world though. Some of the tracks sound so much like the Backstreet Boys it's bizarre.

The first single, "If Ya Gettin Down", is a funky pop song with a bit of rap thrown in. The song is alright but the boys try to sound tough and just come off sounding like Brian Littrell with a cold. This single is probably one of the least likeable tracks on the album so keep plowing through to the next song and you'll find that familiar beat you crave.

Sure enough, the band comes up with a ballad romantic enough to challenge Savage Garden's "I Knew I Loved You", called "You Make Me A Better Man". The harmonies on this track are nice and the boys' voices are good although you will find yourself asking your stereo: "Nick, Nick Carter, is that you?".

When the boys get peppy, there's potential for classic BSB style pop music. "Don't Want To Let You Go," is a quick, danceable track that screams out for good choreography and a flashy video but the similarities between this track and the Backstreet Boys' "Get Down (You're The One For Me)" are unbelievable.

"Invincible" is a decent pop album any Backstreet Boys fan will enjoy.
