98 doesn't stress album sales
Although 98 Degrees' latest album "Revelation" may not have broken *Nsync's sales record, the group members aren't too worried.
98's album "98 Degrees and Rising" sold 5 million copies and expectations were high for "Revelation," especially considering the red hot success of Backstreet Boys "Millennium" and *Nsync's "No Strings Attached". But, "Revelation" made its debut at number 2 on the Billboard Charts and failed to break the million sales mark during the opening week, Reuters reports.
The group's Nick Lachey isn't taking all the sales pressure to heart though.
"It's become a faddy thing to sell a million-plus records your first week," he said. "I think that barometer is unrealistic. Don't get me wrong; selling 2.4 million the first week is an incredible thing, but I don't think that will
ever be passed. People will talk about it years and years from now."
Nick also pointed out that although "98 Degrees and Rising" sold 5 million copies, it only sold 15,000 units during the first week of sales.
