98 and Disney might give bands a break

By STEPHANIE McGRATH -- AllPop

The Disney Channel will soon be giving a big break to new bands and more publicity to established music stars.

The channel announced the production of "2 Hour Tour," last night.

The music-documentary series pairs hot music stars with new bands.

98 Degrees and Christina Aguilera are already confirmed for the first episodes. LFO, The Moffatts, She Daisy and Ta-Gana will also participate in the shows.

The series will follow the artists' tours behind-the-scenes. While on tour, the singing sensations will meet hopeful local bands who perform as opening acts.

"2 Hour Tour" premieres in March with monthly specials. Weekly episodes begin in June 2000. The show will make its first stop in Evansville, Indiana with 98 Degrees from Oct. 21-23.

The show is now accepting submissions from local bands near Pittsburgh/Philadelphia for Christina Aguilera, Orlando for LFO and Houston/Dallas for The Moffatts.
