Christina Aguilera prepares for tour
Christina Aguilera is busy preparing for her upcoming summer tour and finishing up her Spanish language album, but the Grammy-winning singer still has time to raise awareness about causes that are important to her.
During her summer tour, Christina will support Do Something, an organization that promotes teenage involvement in their home communities, Launch reports.
Sears and Levi's (which are promoting Christina's tour) will give out 50 Youth Empowerment Grants during Christina's tour. The $500 grants will be given to teens and used to fund community projects. The winners of the grants will also get tickets to the pop star's concert and a chance to meet her.
Meanwhile, Christina is doing something of her own. The singer is planning to provide funding for a shelter in a U.S. community.
"Well, right now we're actually in the process of opening my own shelter for domestic violence/child abuse," Christina told Launch. "I'm really getting involved with that: two issues that I feel really strongly about."
Christina's camp is researching areas as they try to determine which location would benefit most from the shelter.
In more Christina news, the singer was awarded with the new entertainer of the year award at the 5th Annual American Latino Media Awards (ALMAs) on April 16. The show will air on June 17 at 9p.m. (ET) on ABC.
