Christina's voice is hurting

Christina Aguilera's big voice needs a break.

The pop star had to cancel a show at the New York State fair on Sunday and a special appearance on the "Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon" on Monday because she was having trouble with her voice, MTV reports.

A doctor told Christina to rest her voice in order to "avoid a lengthy or serious vocal problem".

The singer's website posted a message saying that her Grammy winning voice was "slightly strained lately due to her heavy schedule."

Christina is expected to take the stage again on September 6 in New Jersey.
