Aguilera sidelined with illness

Christina Aguilera is sick again.

The pop diva had to cancel performances in Mexico City over the weekend due to a throat infection, dotmusic reports.

Christina was supposed to perform in support of her Spanish album "Mi Reflejo" which has sold 90,000 copies in Mexico City.

On Friday November 17, Christina's record company released a statement that read: "Christina Aguilera was given medical attention in Mexico City and requires complete rest."

The statement also said that doctors have "strictly prohibited her from engaging in any activities so that her health is not put at risk."

Christina made her way home to New York on Friday to rest and recover and the weekend performances could be rescheduled.

In more Christina news, the singer's camp is pushing for the young star to win another Grammy Award.

Christina won the Best New Artist Award at the past Grammy Awards and now, according to her official website, Christina is hoping for consideration in several different categories at the Grammy Awards on February 21, 2001.

Christina is eligible for nomination for songs from her debut solo album, her Spanish album and her holiday album.
