Aguilera camp slams new CD of pre-fame material
By STEPHANIE McGRATH AllPop
On June 19 die-hard fans of Christina Aguilera will face a tough decision: jump on the chance to hear previously unreleased material from the diva or respect her wishes and shun the "new" CD.
A label called Platinum Records will be releasing "Just Be Free," an unauthorized album from Aguilera, believed to be made up of material she recorded before her official, self-titled debut.
On the "Rumour Mill" section of Aguilera's official website, one fan asks if the "additional" songs will ever find their way on to an official Christina album:
"'Dreamy Eyes,' 'Too Beautiful for Words,' 'Just Be Free' and 'Don't Make Me Love You' - will these songs be included on the next Christina Aguilera English album or Christmas album?", reads one posting on the website.
Aguilera's camp was quick to slam the upcoming release of "Just Be Free":
"None of those songs will be included on any of Christina's upcoming albums," reads a statement on her official site (www.christina-a.com). "'Just Be Free' is not even an authorized release and we urge you not to purchase it."
A spokesperson BMG Music Canada, (Christina's record label) said that the company "knew nothing" about the release and agreed with the statement posted on her official website.
Below are some sample lyrics for the song "Just Be Free", according to lyricspoint.com.
Just be free
Ohh, yeah yeah yeah
Move it to the rhythm
On your feet, on your feet, ohh
Rap to the beat, yeah
Move it to the rhythm
Dance floor's open, feeling free
Music's pumping to get on your feet
Take a chance and feel the beat
Get on up and you gotta dance with me ...
