Christina goes back to school
Christina Aguilera is helping to raise school spirit.
Students at Franklin High School wrote 1.6 million cards to a radio station to win a live concert with Christina, Nando Times reported.
The singer, who catapulted into fame this year with her hit single "Genie in a Bottle," is scheduled to perform at the Milwaukee school on Thursday.
Brian Kelly, the program director at WXSS-FM, said the station's contest was a way to raise school spirit after several school shootings, including Columbine High School.
"(We wanted) to find a way to show America that students can organize and do something postitive rather than always being in the news with a negative slant," Kelly said.
Students entering the contest had to write their name, grade and school on cards and send them to the station by Dec. 6.
Kelly said 9 million cards were sent to the station.
