Jennifer Lopez is going head-to-head with Salma Hayek with her next film.

Jennifer has agreed to play Frida Kahlo for MGM, while Salma will play the same character in a film by Miramax, zap2it.com reports.

Frida Kahlo was an international art star who painted vibrant portraits.

Salma Hayek's film will simply be titled "Frida Kahlo" and will star Antonio Banderas and Edward Norton. Julie Taymor ("Titus", Broadway's "The Lion King") will direct the movie.

Jennifer's film is scheduled to begin shooting in February and will be directed by Luis Valdez ("La Bamba").
