High hopes for Mandy's new single

Mandy Moore hopes her new single will do better than "In My Pocket".

The teen pop star is releasing "Crush" from her album "Mandy Moore", right on the heels of "Pocket", MTV reports.

The reason is because "Pocket", which is very different from Mandy's previous pop hits, didn't "do as well as we thought it would," the 17-year-old told MTV.

"It might have been a little too much of a left turn in some people's eyes," Mandy said about "Pocket". "I fully love the song today as much as I loved it when I recorded it and we released it. But people were like, 'That's not Mandy Moore, that's not a song I'm used to her singing, that's not how I'm used to seeing her in a video."

"Crush" is helping push Mandy's new album back up the charts. So far, "Mandy Moore" has sold under 150,000 copies but it will move up from number 109 to 93 on the Billboard 200 albums chart next week.

Mandy can currently be seen in the family comedy "The Princess Diaries" playing an evil cheerleader and will star in "A Walk To Remember" later this year. Mandy's ballad "Cry" will be featured in "Walk".
