Several pop heroes are joining the battle against teen pregnancy.
*Nsync, Destiny's Child, 98 Degrees, and Macy Gray are all planning to perform on June 5 at the launch of the Candie's Foundation. The organization aims to lower the incidence of teenage pregnancy in the U.S. by educating the public about the consequences, MTV reports.
The show will be held in Manhattan, and the Foundation hopes to raise $500,000 at the benefit.
The artists performing at the Manhattan show will also be participating in teen pregnancy public service ads, which will be carried in Teen People, YM, Cosmogirl and Honey. The ads are scheduled to begin in August.
"Despite recent declines, the United States still has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world," Sarah Brown, of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, said in a statement announcing the June 5 show. "Four out of 10 girls get pregnant at least once by age 20."
