O-Town and Lou Pearlman have parted ways.
Pearlman, the mastermind behind the Backstreet Boys and *Nsync, is no longer the group's manager, The New York Post's Page Six column reports.
O-Town was created on ABC's reality TV show "Making The Band" and were formerly managed by Pearlman. But now, O-Town has a new management team called Actual Management, which includes former Pearlman employees.
"Lou is still involved with the group through contracts with the show, but he is no longer the day-to-day manager of the group," said Michael Friedman, Pearlman's lawyer.
O-Town is the latest boy band to separate from Pearlman. Before the release of "No Strings Attached," *Nsync and Pearlman were engaged in a legal fight. As the battle raged on, *Nsync-ers called Pearlman "unscrupulous" and "greedy". The *Nsync/Pearlman dispute was eventually settled out of court.
Before the *Nsync problems began, the Backstreet Boys had also left Pearlman's management.
Recent episodes of "Making The Band" have focused on the problems between O-Town and Pearlman and have included footage of the group trying to restrict Pearlman's access to O-Town by re-working their contracts. That move ultimately resulted in Trans Continental, Pearlman's company, cutting off the group member's cell phones, per diems, and credit cards.
The next episode featured many sit-down talks between O-Town, Pearlman and the group's new management in which Pearlman told the group that cutting off O-Town from Trans Continental had been a mistake in accounting.
All of the televised events between Pearlman and O-Town took place before their album was released.
