AllPop's track by track "O-Town" review

By STEPHANIE McGRATH -- AllPop

Last year, ABC brought us "Making The Band". This year Clive Davis, musical icon who created Arista Records and is now the founder of J Records, brings us O-Town.

O-Town, a five-member boy band created by/on ABC's reality show, will unleash their self-titled debut upon the music world on Tuesday (Jan. 23).

Anyone who watched Ashley, Trevor, Erik, Dan and Jacob screech their way through the show's two token O-Town songs - "All For Love" and "Baby I Would" -- must've wondered how the group would sound on a neatly packaged album. Your wait is over. Below is AllPop's track-by-track review of "O-Town".

1. Liquid Dreams - The group's hit single hinges on an overwhelming number of digital effects and a chorus that lists every current "hot" girl, including Madonna, Janet Jackson and the girls from Destiny's Child. The biggest problem with this song is that it could be extremely dated in a couple of years. It does have a unique sound, though.

2. Every Six Seconds - Too many effects, too many sexual references, too much, period.

3. Girl - Michael Jackson is back in fine form, returning to the pop world with music reminiscent of the "Thriller" album and a hint of the Jackson 5 ... oops, sorry, that's still O-Town. Still, this is a fun, almost retro pop song.

4. Sexiest Woman Alive - TOO MANY EFFECTS. This song sounds like a Nintendo game.

5. Love Should Be A Crime - This semi-acoustic song leans more toward the rock genre than the world of the Backstreet Boys. JAM!'s '80s rock expert likens it to a mix of Bon Jovi and Def Leppard.

6. Shy Girl - This is a fun, poppy number that will please any boy-band fan.

7. All Or Nothing - Sniff, so sad. The prom is over and me and my boyfriend probably won't stay true in university. But at least we have this one last waltz, and this is the perfect song too, it is soooo full of emotion.

8. Sensitive - This song doesn't stand out in the crowd, but it's catchy.

9. The Painter - A sugary ballad. Cue five spotlights at centre stage, start-up the signature boy-band synchronized snap:

"If I were a painter, mixing my colours/How could I ever find the blue of your eyes?/The canvas can never capture the light of your smile/And girl if I were a sculptor working in marble/I couldn't hope to copy your perfect face/The curve of your body, the feel of your skin/My hands could never, ever trace/So I'll try to find a melody as beautiful as you/Find the words to say your eyes are bluer than blue/Fill my voice with the emotion of feeling for you/And now, when the beat is so strong, I'll give my heart in a song."

This is a very decent pop ballad. Ahhh that Ashley, he's so dreamy.

10. Take Me Under - SKIP IT!!!

11. All For Love - This catchy pop number was played over and over and over on "Making The Band" and sounds more polished than it did when the boys serenaded a gymnasium full of pop fans.

12. Baby I Would - Familiar to fans of the ABC show, this is probably the best ballad on the album.
