S Club signs Pepsi deal

Despite a recent brush with the law, S Club 7 has joined Britney & Christina in promoting a major soft-drink company.

The U.K. pop group just signed a deal with Pepsi that will result in their faces being featured on cans and bottles of the beverage overseas, Music 365 reports.

The deal happened even though three of the group members recently were caught smoking marijuana.

"Pepsi have been assured by the band that this [cannabis caution] was an isolated, one-off incident," a spokeswoman for Pepsi said. "They do not condone the use of drugs but are taking the band at their word."

In addition to having their faces on Pepsi containers, the group will also join the company for promotions. Pepsi is already planning S Club contests that will award lucky fans with CDs and concert tickets.

"It's going to be weird to open the fridge and see ourselves staring back at us," the group said in a statement. "When we think of the huge music stars who have been involved with them in the past, it makes us really excited about the deal."

Britney Spears recently signed a deal with Pepsi that saw her first TV commercial for the drink air during the Academy Awards ceremony last month.

Another pop star, Christina Aguilera, also signed a promotional deal with Coca-Cola.
