Savage Garden in court
Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones of the successful Australian pop band Savage Garden, are involved in a legal battle with their former management.
Paul Leslie Redfern and Sharon Maree Redfern of Brisbane-based Hit Records are asking an Australian court to consider damages they suffered after Savage Garden switched management, Billboard reports.
Paul Redfern told the court he had an oral management agreement to manage Hayes and Jones that was ended in 1994 by a signed document.
But, Redfern claims he forgot his glasses when the agreement was signed and was relying on Hayes and Jones to explain the document to him.
Both the Redferns say Savage Garden told them they wouldn't sign with manager John Woodruff although he did actually set Savage Garden up with a record and publishing company and began handling the duo's business.
The Redferns want the court to consider damages they suffered from the lost opportunities.
The case was adjourned today to give the parties more time to work on their cases.
