Savage Garden preps solo album

One half of Savage Garden is working on a new album.

Darren Hayes is now working on a solo album in San Francisco, but is quick to say that doesn't mean that Savage Garden has come to an end.

Darren told Billboard that he and his musical partner Daniel Jones haven't split but are simply "on hiatus".

Darren's solo album is scheduled for release in 2002, and the singer said he already has 40 songs for the album.

"It's just an amazing team of people that's pushed me and challenged me," he told Billboard. "And I've been able to take [songs] to places that I've never really been before in terms of Savage Garden. This music has a slightly more R&B slant."
