Roxette sound-a-like sure to hit with Tiger Beat generation
By DAVE VEITCH -- Calgary Sun
SAVAGE GARDEN
Savage Garden
(Columbia/Sony)
This is the Australian duo now storming the singles charts with I Want You, the Roxette-sound-alike tune buoyed by a bubbly synth-pop rhythm and rapid-fire vocals.
Nothing else on their self-titled debut is as relentlessly ingratiating as that hit, though their sugar-coated ballads, artificially chirpy dance-pop ditties and lyrics such as "I'll be your dream/I'll be your fantasy," will surely find an adoring audience among Tiger Beat readers.
