They have a different sound and a different lead singer of a different gender - Sky might as well be a different band.
But Antoine, who actually wrote the songs, including the big hit Some Kinda Wonderful, wasn't ready to give up the name. With 24-year-old singer Anastasia (they don't use last names in this group) replacing the camera-shy James, who quit just prior to Sky winning best new group at the Junos this year, Antoine considers it more of a band project.
"Personally, it's not that big of a change," he says. "I'm still playing with the same band. Yes, the public saw it as two guys, but for me, it's always been a seven-piece band with me writing the music. I had all these new songs - and who's going to sing them? That was more my feeling."
Sky reveals its new and improved face with its second album, Travelling Infinity, in stores today. As with the first album, Piece of Paradise, Antoine says that no amount of awards or "drama" in the media affects what he does.
"The people don't care about that," he says. "Is the music good? Yeah? Thank you very much. If not, then (buzz off). That's pretty much it."
Sky plays an invite-only concert on Thursday (listen to Power 92 for details), in advance of a Canada-wide tour planned for February.
