soulDecision = lively pop

By STEPHANIE McGRATH

soulDecision
No One Does It Better
(Universal)

Finally, a Canadian answer to Britain's Five and America's 98 Degrees.

This album is extremely easy on the ears. The fact that the group members aren't too hard on the eyes will help them in their up-coming chart battles.

After listening to a thousand up-and-coming pop albums, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between them. But souDecision's album has more substance than some of their pop competitors.

Although this 11 songs are slickly produced and seamlessly moves from one track to the next (unlike, say, Mel C's "Northern Star"), it's not done to disguise faint voices and weak songs. These boys can sing.

"Ohh It's Kinda Crazy" is a catchy way to open the album, and other tracks such as "I Don't Need Anyone" sparkle with good harmonies and a catchy chorus.

Unlike many other pop groups, this Canadian trio is also able to sing decent pop ballads that don't sound like cookie-cutter love songs. The title track is a great ballad, although "Let's Do It Right" is a tad sugary.

If you're looking to expand your boy-band collection, seriously consider "No One Does It Better".
