Britney in *Nsync movie

Britney Spears is teaming up with her rumoured boyfriend and his group for a pop film extravaganza.

While *Nsync was promoting their upcoming film during the Cannes Film fest last month, group member Lance Bass let a secret slip, New York magazine reports.

According to a movie insider, Lance claimed that *Nsync's movie will be like "The Bodyguard" and Whitney Houston's character will be played by none other than the princess of pop.

Britney has been linked to several movies this year although each rumour was denied by her camp (i.e. roles in "Dirty Dancing" and "Grease"), but joining *Nsync's movie venture would mean being closer to her rumoured boyfriend, *Nsync's Justin Timberlake.

Britney is an old friend of *Nsync. She toured with the group when she was kick-starting her solo career and spent her young years in "The Mickey Mouse Club" with *Nsync's J.C. Chasez and Justin.

The five Orlando boys who make up *Nsync wouldn't reveal too many details about their movie although they did say they won't be making a version of "Spice World" (the 1997 film about the Spice Girls) and that they will be acting, not playing themselves.

The *Nsync movie is expected to begin filming in 2001 and in April, Lance told Allstar what fans could look forward too and even hinted at the Britney factor.

"It's gonna be a huge, huge movie and we got some major, major people in it," he said. "We're the five stars of it with another person that you're gonna know very well."
