Britney suppors actor's union
Britney Spears is throwing her support behind striking union actors.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA) are currently in their 86th day of their strike against commercials producers, Variety reports.
Pop princess Britney recently cancelled her non-union Clairol commercial while *Nsync also promised to support the strike.
Both Britney and *Nsync said they will not make commercials until the strike between SAG and AFTRA vs. advertisers is over. They also promised to donate $1 from Britney's concert on Sunday and *Nsync's show on Saturday to the SAG foundation.
Britney cancelled her Clairol ad just before the company released its print and television campaign for the Herbal Essences shampoo line.
"She wanted it known that she supports the strike," said Spears publicist Lisa Kasteler.
Britney's tour is sponsored by the company and Britney will still be featured in the shampoo's endorsement campaign.
The two sides of the strike met last week for negotiations, which promptly fell apart. The actors claim that advertisers are refusing to work on their proposal, which removes residuals for network TV commercials. The ad industry claims it can't afford residuals and can keep up with commercial production by using non-union actors.
