Britney chooses a movie
Britney Spears has finally chosen a film script, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Britney will star in a yet-to-be-titled film from director Tamra Davis ("Half Baked," "Billy Madison") that is being described as a cross between the Drew Barrymore movie "Boys On The Side" and Gwyneth Paltrow's karaoke flop "Duets".
The film revolves around three girls who find themselves growing apart in high school. One is a straight-A student (Britney), one is a cheerleader and one is floundering.
The three girls decide to take a trip across the U.S. together. On their journey they run into a young, aspiring musician who encourages them to make their way to L.A. and enter a musical competition. Britney is expected to sing for the movie.
Britney's record label, Jive Records, plans to finance the $10 million movie with Filmco. The director's sister Kim will cast the film.
The latest Britney-related movie story is one in a long line of film rumours that have been scoffed at by the singer.
Last year, websites and papers claimed Britney would be starring in "Dirty Dancing 2," then rumours started to fly that Britney would star in "Grease 3" along with her boyfriend Justin Timberlake's group *Nsync.
When AllPop asked the princess of pop about the "Grease" story, she was quick to dismiss it.
"I will definitely not be in the new version of 'Grease'," she said.
In more Britney news, the singer whose fashion sense has spawned look-alikes, magazine spreads and dolls, made the top of Mr. Blackwell's worst-dressed list, Reuters reports.
Mr. Blackwell publishes his "worst-dressed" list every year. This year he moved Britney up from sixth worst-dressed to first.
"Her bra-topped collection of Madonna rejects are pure fashion overkill," he wrote. "Relax. Help is on the way."
Other celebs who made the negative list include Christina Aguilera, Bjork, Madonna and Elizabeth Hurley.
