Britney Spears' Super Bowl sock is causing a fashion frenzy.

During her brief appearance at the football game's half-time show, Britney sported a sock on her arm.

Although some people wondered what was up with her fashion sense, Ryan Colby, a stylist to stars such as Ryan Phillippe and Jared Leto is a big fan, Entertainment Weekly reports.

"I loved it," Colby told EW. "It's a 'Flashdance'y -- but more updated -- look, a throwback to the '80s."

As we speak, the sock phenomenon is burning through Japan and France and dance clubs and will soon make it's way to stores such as Urban Outfitters. The Urban Outfitters variety will also sport charms.

"Right now, the look is preppy, it's retro sport, or it's punk," said Sue Otto, creative director for Urban Outfitters. "This sock band thing is a great accent."
