LOS ANGELES - A publicist for Britney Spears has confirmed the pop diva is alive and well, refuting a rumour that she and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake had died in a car crash.
"There is no truth to the rumour circulating around the world that Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake were involved in a car accident on Tuesday," said Spears publicist Lisa Kasteler in a statement to Reuters.
Kasteler confirmed that Spears is currently working on her a new album and Timberlake is on tour with 'N Sync.
Kasteler also said that agents and lawyers for both Spears and Timberlake would investigate the source of the rumour and determine whether or not "legal action is appropriate".
Police in Los Angeles were flooded with phone calls on Tuesday night after the bogus report was apparently spread by Kramer and Twitch, two radio personalities from San Jose, CA.
Several radio stations in Los Angeles revealed reports of the car crash were just a hoax and that both Spears and Timberlake were not dead.
