Britney Spears takes movie seriously

Britney Spears' foray into acting shouldn't be seen as the pop diva's latest move in taking over the entertainment world.

Executives working on Britney's upcoming film say the singer really wants her first film role to be taken seriously.

"What Friends Are Four" is being described as an ensemble movie, not a star vehicle.

"She's a very serious young woman, and she had no feeling like 'Put me in 'Tomb Raider'," the movie's producer, Ann Carli told EW.com.

Britney's dedication to the movie can also be seen by her help in developing the script and, although she will sing on screen, there are no plans to release a soundtrack album and cash in on her pop princess status.

"Britney and her managers really wanted her to [have] a shot for a credible acting career," said Carli.

Carli isn't the only person involved in the film who's taking Britney's acting gig seriously. Earlier this year, Dan Aykroyd, who plays Britney's father in the movie, praised her acting skills during interviews.

"She is a good actress," he said. "I mean, she's got the essence of greatness there."
