Spice Girls call for 'Girl Power Day'

Has it been five years already?

Yes, it has. It has been half a decade since the Spice Girls released the smash hit "Wannabe", and they want to celebrate. In fact, they want ALL girls to celebrate.

According to their official web site, the Spice Girls are campaigning for the U.K. to hold "a Spice day" in recognition of empowered young women everywhere.

The girls are asking other women to celebrate the day by doing something empowering, "from putting on your biggest shoes to popping your boyfriend the big question or simply accepting yourself for who and what you are."

So how will the Spice Girls spend the day?

"I might whistle at some builders and have a couple of pints down the pub," said Mel C. (a.k.a. Sporty Spice).

No word on whether or not ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell (a.k.a. Ginger Spice) would be promotig "Girl Power Day."
