Posh Spice fighting tell-all book
U.K. super-couple Victoria and David Beckham are gearing up for a court battle.
The Spice Girl and her soccer-star husband are trying to prevent the publication of a book about their lives, dotmusic reports.
The book, if it's not banned, will be by biographer Andrew Morton and will be called "At Their Beck and Call". The book will tell the story of Mark Niblett, the couple's ex-bodyguard and babysitter, who reportedly left his job with the Beckhams after several disagreements.
The High Court hearing is expected to begin on July 26. A British newspaper has reported that both sides have hired top lawyers to argue their side.
David and Posh Spice claim that the bodyguard's tell-all confession is a breach of their confidentiality agreement and that they are disgusted by his betrayal. Posh reportedly felt "physically sick" when she first learned of the book.
A high court decision last month banned Niblett from telling Morton any more details about the Beckhams life. The book's publishers agreed not to publish it until the hearing was over.
The Spice Girl and her husband are still worried that the book could be published in other parts of the world, even if it is banned in Britain.
"Morton has a track record of getting the big names and for getting his facts right," said a literary insider. "It's no wonder the Beckhams don't fancy him delving into their lives - and you can bet he wouldn't take on the book if he didn't have a nugget or two up his sleeve. If it doesn't get the go-ahead in this country, who's to say it won't appear in print abroad because the Beckhams have mass appeal."
Morton is the author of biographies on Princess Diana and Monica Lewinsky.
