Scary Spice goes solo
Mel B is proud of her solo effort.
The Scary Spice Girl claims that her upcoming solo album, "Hot," was harder to make than the Spice Girls' two chart-toppers, dotmusic reports.
"It was not like working with the Spice Girls because I knew that it was all down to me, vocally," she said during an interview with "Music Week" magazine. "It was a challenge because I had to be very focused."
Mel teamed up with several U.S. producers for her album, including R & B hitmaker Teddy Riley -- who wasn't always easy to work with.
"Riley was tough to work with. He had a pretty bad attitude and seemed to have decided that I'd be a popstar Spice wanker before he'd even met me," Mel said.
Mel went on to explain that her work with Riley was still productive and she walked away from the recording sessions with three tracks.
The singer co-wrote every song but one on the album and Mel said the writing helped her deal with the stress of the last two years, including a birth, marriage and divorce for Mel.
According to the Virgin office in Toronto, Mel's album is scheduled for release in November in the U.K. There is no official North American release date for "Hot" yet but the album is expected to be released around the same time it's released overseas.
