Baby goes solo

Baby Spice is going solo.

Emma Bunton has already released a solo single in the U.K., but now the blond Spice Girl is planning her debut solo album, MTV reports.

Emma told BBC Radio One that producer Rodney Jerkins (Whitney Houston, Brandy,Monica) is helping her work on 18 solo tracks that include some dance songs, ballads and R & B numbers.

Emma went on to suggest that she's been writing her own music and that she loves to write ballads.

In more Spice solo news, Mel C (Sporty) saw the fourth single from her solo album, "Northern Star", "I Turn To You," shoot to number one on the U.K. charts.

Meanwhile, Mel B (Scary) is releasing her single, "Tell Me", in the U.K. in September and will release her debut solo album, "Hot", in North America next year.

Finally, Victoria Beckham is releasing her first single sans Spice Girls, in the U.K.

Posh Spice recorded the dance track "Out of Your Mind," featuring Dane Bowers. She, too, is rumoured to be working on songs with Jerkins for her own solo album.

As far as the Spice Girls are concerned, the group's third album, their first without Geri Halliwell, will be released in North America on Nov. 7.
