Michelle Stephenson was one of the original Spice Girls, but she isn't losing any sleep about missing out on the group's wild ride, Reuters reports.
Stephenson was included in the original Spice Girl line-up after hundreds of girls auditioned for the group. She joined the Spices in April 1994 and left the group by the end of the summer. Michelle was replaced by Emma Bunton (Baby Spice). The Girls, of course, went on to sell millions of albums around the world.
"I was the one at university, the intelligent one as it were," she said. "They all thought I was 'Smart Spice'."
In a documentary titled "Raw Spice" about the early Spice years, Chris Herbert, the group's former manager, said that Michelle was asked to leave the group.
But Stephenson said she left on her own because her mother was sick. She is now writing music for other people.
