Robbie responds to plagiarism case

Robbie Williams has responded to plagiarism accusations.

The UK pop star is facing a lawsuit from Ludlow Music on behalf of Loudon Wainwright III, who claims Robbie used a line from his song, "I Am The Way," in Robbie's track "Jesus In A Camper Van," Q Online reports.

Robbie announced that he's been fair to Wainwright (who's credited on Robbie's album "I've Been Expecting You").

"Robbie Williams has always acknowledged that one line of 'Jesus In A Camper Van' was inspired by the song 'I Am The Way' by Loudon Wainwright III, who was more than happy with Robbie's song but referred the matter to Ludlow Music Inc.," Robbie's spokespeople said in a statement.

"Robbie Williams has offered 25 per cent of the publishing income from 'Jesus In A Camper Van' to Ludlow Music. Both Ludlow Music and Loudon Wainwright III are credited on his album. Ludlow Music are not happy with the proposed deal. However, the case itself is in essence no more than a sampling dispute. The principal issue is the appropriate share of the composition that should be allotted to Ludlow Music."

The statement went on the say that Robbie's camp has offered Ludlow Music $32,000 and is still waiting for Ludlow to accept the offer.
