Robbie woos Britney
The U.K.'s biggest pop star plans to team up with the reigning pop princess of the U.S.
Robbie Williams is in talks to duet with Britney Spears for his upcoming big band album now called "Swing When You're Winning," The London Sun reports.
Robbie is said to be in the U.S. now, working on his album and undergoing negotiations with Britney's team.
Actress Nicole Kidman, who lent her vocal chords to this year's movie musical "Moulin Rouge", has already agreed to guest on Robbie's album.
Although Robbie is a huge star overseas, he hasn't achieved the same success in North America, a situation he apparently hopes to remedy with the famous guest stars on the album.
"As far as the Britney duet goes, it's looking good," a source close to Robbie reportedly told The London Sun. "With her and Nicole on board it will raise his profile in the States. We're hoping it'll be a biggie for Christmas."
"Swing When You're Winning" will be a musical change for Robbie. The singer's previous albums were full of pop songs, while the new album will feature music based on songs made famous by Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra.
Robbie decided to try his voice at a big band recording because he'd become bored with his image and his music.
"Swing When You're Winning" is scheduled for a Nov. 19th release in the U.K. but no release date has been set for North America yet.
