Green bares soul in Playboy interview
By BOBBIE SMITH -- Ottawa Sun
In the upcoming May issue of Playboy magazine, Tom Green, Ottawa's gross-out comedy crackpot, reminisces about his home town and talks about fiancee Drew Barrymore.
Green complains of reality TV becoming a fad, saying people don't get it right.
"They think, we'll follow people around with a video camera. It'll be so real," he says. "They don't understand that a good reality show needs as much attention to story as a sitcom."
Green reminisces about his early days in Ottawa, including how he was banned from the Rideau Centre for screaming and for jumping into the mall's fountains in full scuba gear.
He also talks about how he got over his bout with testicular cancer using comedy.
"Before I decided to do that (cancer) special, I was whimpering around the house, thinking I was going to die," says Green.
"But when I turned it into a joke, I knew where I was."
Green talks about plans to have kids, but said he and Barrymore would probably hide for a year and then just appear with a walking baby.
