It's 30 degrees Celsius and sunny out so that can mean only one thing - Christmas in Newport!
The gang is out picking Christmas trees, and lucky for them they once again have Summer doing the choosing. They've been there for three hours and Summer isn't happy with one tree. Making things even worse, Marissa wants to get a tree for Johnny as well, despite the fact, Summer reminds her, that Marissa said that they should spend some time apart. Marissa feels bad for Johnny though. Ryan finds out about this plan and bites his tongue, as he's being doing a lot lately. As Marissa walks away, Seth, creator of the Ultimate Holiday, says "my forecast for Chrismukkah calls for trouble."
After finding a tree, the four go to Johnny's to present him with it. His mom answers the door and says that this is bad timing. Turns out their insurance doesn't cover the cost of the surgery Johnny wants to have, so he'll have to wait even longer to get it done, if at all. Johnny limps to the door, thanks them feebly for the tree, and leaves.
Things aren't much happier at the Cohen's. Kirsten is decorating, but she's sad because it's her first Christmas without her dad, and her last one with the two boys at home. Sandy reminds her that it's not just Christmas - it's Chrismukkah, which has twice the resistance of a normal holiday.
At the diner, Ryan, Marissa, Seth and Summer are trying to figure out ways to help Johnny. They know they need a Chrismukkah miracle, and they look to Summer, who saved the holiday last year. This year, though, she's all out of miracles. Then Seth thinks of a great idea - throw a Bar Mitzvah for Ryan, and use the money they make to pay for Johnny's surgery. Ryan wants no part of it, but the others think it's a great idea. Ryan is shocked - they're actually serious! Then Seth says it: it can be a Chrismukkah Bar Mitzvahkkah!
Back at the trailer park, Julie is eating out of a tin can while watching TV in her ripped denim skirt. Kirsten comes over and asks Julie if she wants to spend Christmas with the Cohens. Kirsten finds out that Julie still hasn't told Marissa about her current 'situation.' Kirsten urges Julie to tell her daughter what's going on. They turn the TV back on and Kirsten sits back - 'misery loves company' after all.
Ryan and Marissa visit Johnny at his house to tell them about their Bar Mitzvah idea. Johnny is slumped in front of the TV watching his old surfing videos. He gets angry and defensive when told about the idea. He thinks they see him as charity case. 'Thanks but no thanks.' He says, and that's that.
Seth won't let his idea be ruined though. He still wants to go ahead with it, but he first checks with Sandy, who finds the idea extremely offensive. But after much pleading, and after Kirsten realizes what a great idea it may be, Sandy cracks and okay's the idea. He says it will simply be an 'honourary' Bar Mitzvah.
Marissa visits Johnny once again, and she finds him playing solitaire - with an ACTUAL deck of cards no less (now that's just sad folks - not even COMPUTER solitaire??). Johnny takes a call on his cell phone and is acting very secretive, telling the caller he can't talk at the moment as he glances at Marissa. Marissa says not to worry, and she'll leave. She's curious, though, as to who Johnny is talking to.
Things get even more suspicious later. Later at night, Marissa is waiting to meet Ryan at the diner and happens to see Johnny in the parking lot. She looks out the window and sees him meet with a shady character, and watches as Johnny hands the guy a wad of cash. She waits a minute and runs down t meet Johnny, who is standing by the pier. She asks him what is going on but he continues to be very secretive. Marissa goes to hug Johnny, who aims for a kiss, but gets de-NIED. As luck would have it, Ryan shows up and sees this happening. From afar, it looks strange, and he angrily walks away.
Ryan is so angry in fact, that he says he no longer wants to be in the Bar Mitzvah. He never actually tells anyone why, but Sandy has a talk with him and asks Ryan to swallow his pride, no matter how bad it tastes. Ryan eventually changes his mind and agrees once again on the Chrismukkah Bar Mitzvahkkah.
Later on, Ryan has a talk with Marissa, who's wondering what is wrong with Ryan. He tells her that he saw her and Johnny at the pier the night before, saying he has a bad habit of showing up at the wrong time. Marissa assures Ryan once again that she has no feelings for Johnny. But she is worried about him. She thinks he's dealing drugs. Ryan agrees to go over to his place and talk to him.
Ryan goes over just as Johnny is getting out of the shower. While he's getting dry in the bathroom, Ryan does a quick check of Johnny's room, looking for anything suspicious, but finds nothing. Johnny walks into the room and tells Ryan he can't make the Bar Mitzvah because he has other things to do. Ryan pushes him and pushes him until he agrees to come. He leaves the house and we see Johnny push aside a bag and reach into a backpack, where he grabs a gun that's inside.
On the adult side of things, Julie ends up at Summer's house where she wants to tell Marissa the truth about where she's living. Marissa nor Summer are home, but Summer's dad Neil is. The two have an earnest discussion about being a parent. Neil says he's about to go through his second divorce. Julie appreciates him trying to make her feel better and invites him to the party/Bar Mitzvah. Could love be in the air?
At the Bar-Mitzvah, Marissa tells Ryan not to let Johnny out of their sight. They keep an eye on him for a while, but things get pretty hectic and Johnny manages to sneak off. Ryan goes off looking for him and follows him to a convenience store. Turns out, Johnny plans on robbing the place to get money for his surgery. As Johnny waits in the corner for the last customer to leave, the store clerk watches him very suspiciously, and in fact slowly grabs for a gun of his own underneath the cash register. Just as Johnny is about to pull his gun out, possibly leading to himself getting shot by the store clerk, Ryan comes into the store and asks for a pack of smokes and asks Johnny what he's doing (knowing full well what his plan is). He averts a possible crisis and brings Johnny back to the Bar Mitzvah after telling Johnny 'sometimes you have to let the rich people help you.'
Ryan and Johnny return to the party and Ryan says a nice speech about friendship and all that junk, and everyone ends up dancing together. Kirsten proclaims this the 'best Chrismukkah ever,' though it seems many viewers would disagree.
