Is 'Buffy' too steamy?

"Buffy The Vampire Slayer" is proving a bit too steamy for U.K. audiences.

The Broadcasting Standards Commission agreed with viewer complaints that an episode of the show that aired in October of last year was too explicit for its early BBC time slot, the BBC reports.

"In relation to the sex scene, it considered that it had exceeded acceptable boundaries for broadcast at a time when young children could be watching," said the Commission in a statement.

The BBC responded by saying that the show has an early time slot to win over teen viewers. The station went on to say that the episode's sexual activity was alluded to and not necessarily graphically shown. The U.K. station also said that the sexual activity was "more comic than erotic."

In more "Buffy" news, the network battle for the hit WB show continues, zap2it.com reports.

The WB's renegotiation window with the show's producers is scheduled to close on Thursday, and industry insiders don't expect the network to have agreed to a deal with 20th Century Fox Television by then.

The WB offered Fox $1.6 million for each episode, but Fox is reportedly looking for a figure closer to $2.3 or $2.5. That's basically the full cost of each episode with a premium on top of that.

If no deal is agreed upon between the WB and Fox by Thursday, "Buffy's" production company can then go to other networks looking for the better offer. But the WB will still have the chance to match any other offer Fox gets.

ABC and UPN have both expressed interest in the series.
