'Buffy' creator angry at WB

"Buffy, The Vampire Slayer's" search for a new network home has stepped up after a falling out between The WB Network and the show's creator, Joss Whedon.

The New York Daily News reports that Whedon is in a snit after WB exec Jamie Kellner reportedly dissed the show.

"It makes me angry to see this show belittled," Whedon told The Daily News.

"For Jamie Kellner to call it a teen show and dismiss his own product angers me. It doesn't breed love."

Whedon was reacting to comments from Kellner in Entertainment Weekly magazine, suggesting that the show had limited appeal to teens and wasn't worth the big money being sought to renew the series.

"It's not our No. 1 show," Kellner told Entertainment Weekly.

"It's not a show like 'ER' that stands above the pack."

The latest tension comes against the background of negotiations between "Buffy's" producers, 20th Century Fox, and The WB to renew the series.

"Buffy" is seeking $2 million per episode, while the network is only willing to offer $1.6 million per show, claiming they'll lose money on the Sarah Michelle Gellar-starring show if they pay more.

Whedon told The Daily News he was unconcerned that fans would lose track if the series switched to a new network, but he was still hopeful things would stay the same.

"If we end up somewhere other than on The WB, we'll be the exact same show, and producers at 20th Century Fox have supported us on everything. I think the fans will find it."

"(But) I keep thinking it will be best for everyone if the show stays where it is, but ultimately, I don't know if that will happen."
