'Buffy' cartoon

Can't get enough of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer"? The Fox Kids Network is developing "Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Animated Series", and Joss Whedon, the mastermind behind "Buffy" and "Angel" is on board with the project, Mr. Showbiz reports.

The series will revolve around Buffy and her friends in their high school days, said Whedeon, although in the WB live-action show, the Scooby Gang is already in their second year of university.

"The animated series is an opportunity to take our characters back to the beginning of their adulthood and tell the stories we never got to tell about Buffy and her friends," Whedon told Mr. Showbiz. "It's a chance to recapture those years of heartache and confusion and do the stories we never could afford to do in live action."

Officials at Fox said that the cartoon could air in February 2002.
