In what certainly won't be a stretch, Britain's pop-culture couple, Spice Girl Victoria Beckham and her soccer-star husband David, are set to become cartoon characters.

The AFP news agency reports that the golden couple, known in U.K. tabs as Posh and Becks, will be featured in a running animated sketch to appear on England's satirical 2DTV, a new creation from members of the team that launched the popular '80s puppetry spoof Spitting Image.

The couple is a subject of both fascination and scorn in Britain. The duo likewise courts attention and rails against invasions of privacy. They recently launched a website that allows fans to take a virtual tour of their mansion.

In the 2DTV skits, Victoria Beckham is portrayed as a frighteningly thin harpie who browbeats her meek husband, who is in real life a star player with Manchester United, AFP reported.

Spitting Image used grossly caricatured latex puppets to lance celebrities and politicians. In North America, their fame came from an appearance in the Genesis video "Land Of Confusion".

The new series will use animation to send up a host of other celebrities, including Prince William, former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Catherine Zeta Jones and husband Michael Douglas, the report said.
