'Buffy' classics air in December

If you're confused as to why you can't seem to get classic "Buffy" episodes in syndication, it might have a little something to do with the series' new home.

UPN, which snatched "Buffy" from The WB this year, has the right to air episodes it considers to be "classic" and keep them away from syndication until they've been shown on their own network, zap2it.com reports.

Some of the "classic" episodes that will be aired on UPN include "The Body" -- last year's acclaimed instalment about the death of Buffy's mother -- and "Hush", which found the characters unable to use their voices for almost the entire hour.

Since UPN executives want to hold off on season six reruns during the three-week break in December, they spoke with "Buffy" executive producers Joss Whedon and Marti Noxon about which classic episodes could be shown instead.

The schedule is: "Hush" on Tuesday, Dec. 11, "The Body" on Dec. 18, and "Buffy Vs. Dracula" on Dec. 25.

According to zap2it.com, new episodes of "Buffy" will start airing on New Year's Day.
