'Buffy' musical gets respectable ratings

The musical episode of "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" did well in the ratings but didn't set any records.

The episode, titled "Once More With Feeling," attracted 5.4 million viewers on Tuesday (Nov. 6), zap2it.com reports.

The singing and dancing show didn't manage to crack the record it set for itself during its UPN premiere in October, which drew 7.7 million viewers.

"Buffy" still managed to beat The WB's "Gilmore Girls", though, which is currently slotted into the series' former time slot on its old network. "Buffy" topped "Gilmore Girls" in adults 18-49, adults 25-54, and men 18-49 and 24-54.

In more "Buffy" news, the show's executive producer, Marti Noxon, told zap2it.com that the romance between Spike (James Marsters) and Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) could take a nasty turn.

The peroxide-headed vampire and the vampire-slayer locked lips during the final seconds of the musical episode. Spike, a nasty vampire with a chip in his brain that prevents him from attacking innocents, has carried a flame for the blond staker for many episodes.

"It's a love that dares not speak its name, that's for sure," Noxon told zap2it.com. "It's going to be a wild ride."

Although fans may have been happy that the two finally kissed, Noxon warns that sunshine and roses probably aren't going to be in their future.

"No romance ever goes well, not on 'Buffy'," she said.

The romance could, possibly, take a turn for the worse on the Nov. 20th episode, titled "Smashed". On that show, something apparently goes wrong with Spike's chip, which means he could become a mean old vampire again.
