'Buffy' lore respected

Avid followers of "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" who have been watching the supernatural program since the beginning and know the ins and outs of "Buffy" lore, might be scratching their heads right about now.

According to past "Buffy" episodes, as soon as a slayer dies, a new one is brought forward. During the first season of the show, Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) stopped breathing for a few seconds and suddenly, there was a new slayer (named Kendra) in town, TV Guide reports.

But Buffy spent a whole summer (last summer) in the grave, and no new slayer appeared. How did that work? Well, according to Marti Noxon, the executive producer of "Buffy", Faith (Eliza Dushku) is still alive, which means there's no need for a new slayer.

Faith replaced Kendra when Kendra died and is now supposedly locked up for her evil ways. So don't expect any new slayers to come into Buffy's territory.

"It would take Faith dying for another Slayer to be called," Noxon told TV Guide Online, "and since we can't get [Eliza] on the show, the odds of that happening aren't big."
