Week Number 21

Maxime Talbot of the Hull Olympiques is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending March 2, 2003. Each week during the 2002-03 regular season a CHL Player of the Week will be selected based on the players of the week from the three member leagues.

Talbot, who was chosen as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Offensive Player of the Week, recorded 15 points on nine goals and six assists and he had a plus-minus rating of plus 12 in three games last week. Talbot, who was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, also recorded two assists in the win over Sherbrooke. On February 26 Talbot scored once and added four assists in Hull's 5-3 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan and on March 2 against the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies he recorded four points on three goals and one assist. In 62 games this season Talbot has 90 points on 39 goals and 51 assists.

The QMJHL Defensive Player of the Week was goaltender Maxime Daigneault of the Val-d'Or Foreurs. In three games last week Daigneault backstopped the Foreurs to three wins as he posted one shutout, a 1.00 goals against average and a .946 save percentage.

Peter Hamerlik of the Kingston Frontenacs was selected as the Ontario Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending March 2. In three games last week Hamerlik recorded three wins, a 1.33 goals against average and a .960 save percentage.
