Foy named CHL Player of the Week
Right Winger Matt Foy of the Ontario Hockey League's Ottawa 67's is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending October 27, 2002. Each week during the 2002 - 2003 regular season the CHL will name a player of the week. The player is selected from each of the CHL's three member league's players of the week.
In two games last week Foy recorded seven points on four goals and three assists as the 67's recorded a 4-4 tie against the number one ranked Sarnia Sting and posted a 8-5 win over the Kingston Frontenacs. A native of Mississauga, Foy was selected as the first star in both games. The highlight of Foy's week was a three goal and one assist performance on October 27 against Kingston. Foy, selected by the Minnesota Wild in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft, has 13 goals and 11 assists in 13 games this season.
The Western Hockey League's Player of the Week is Stephen Mann of the Saskatoon Blades. In three games last week Mann scored six goals and added an assist as the Blades posted a won-loss-tie record of 1-1-1.
Olivier Michaud of the Shawinigan Cataractes was the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Defensive Player of the Week. In three games last week Michaud recorded a win, a loss and a tie posting a 1.82 goals against average. Olivier Proulx of the Drummondville Voltigeurs scored five goals and added two assists in two games
