Wisniewski named CHL Player of the Week

Week Number 6

Defenceman James Wisniewski of the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League is the Canadian Hockey LeagueÕs Player of the Week for the week ending November 3, 2002. Each week during the 2002- 2003 regular season the CHL will name a player of the week. The player is selected from each of the CHLÕs three member leaguesÕ players of the week.

In three games last week Wisniewski recorded eight points on five goals and three assists as the Whalers posted two wins and a loss. The highlight of Wisniewski week was a three goal, two assist performance against the London Knights on November 2. A native of Canton, Michigan, Wisniewski has 9 points on six goals and three assists in just eight games this season. The Chicago Black Hawks selected Wisniewski in the fifth round of the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft.

Marc-Andre Fleury of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles is the Quebec Major Junior Hockey LeagueÕs Defensive Player of the Week. In three home ice wins last week Fleury recorded a 2.30 goals against average and a .933 save percentage. QMJHL Offensive Player of the Week honours went to Jean-Francois Cyr of the Halifax Mooseheads. Cyr scored two goals and added six assists.

The Western Hockey LeagueÕs Player of the Week is Nigel Dawes of the Kootenay Ice. In three road games last week Dawes recorded six points on five goals and one assist.
