Locke named CHL Player of the Week
Week Number 7
Centre Corey Locke of the Ontario Hockey LeagueÕs Ottawa 67Õs is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending November 10. Each week during the regular season the CHL selects a player of the week based on the player of the week selections from its three member leagues.
Locke, the CHL Player of the Month for the month of October, recorded nine points of four goals and five assists and helped the 67Õs to three wins last week. A highlight of LockeÕs week was a two goal two assist performance in OttawaÕs 5-4 win over the Belleville Bulls on November 8. The 18-year-old native of Newmarket, Ontario leads the OHL in scoring with 20 goals and 29 assists in 19 games.
Ben Ondrus of the Swift Current Broncos was the Western Hockey LeagueÕs Player of the Week. In three games last week Ondrus scored two goals and added six assists as the Broncos won three games in a row.
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey LeagueÕs Offensive Player of the Week is Jean-Francois Plourde of the Rimouski Oceanic. In three games last week Plourde recorded eight points on five goals and three assists. The QMJHLÕs Defensive Player of the Week is goaltender Corey Crawford of the Moncton Wildcats. In three games Crawford posted 2.34 goals against average as the Wildcats won two of three games.
