Locke CHL Player of the Week

For the second week in a row centre Corey Locke of the Ontario Hockey Leagues Ottawa 67s is the Canadian Hockey Leagues Player of the Week for the week ending November 17. Each week during the regular season the CHL selects a player of the week from the Players of the Week from each of its three member leagues.

Locke, who was also selected as the CHL Player of the Month in October, continued his scoring ways as he recorded 11 points on five goals and six assists in three games last week. The native of Newmarket, Ontarios contributions helped the 67s post three wins last week to extend their winning streak to seven games. Locke opened the week with a pair of goals and an assist in Ottawas 7-5 win over the Belleville Bulls on November 13 and he added three assists on November 15 as the 67s skated to a 6-1 win over the Toronto St. Michaels Majors. Locke closed out the week with a hat trick and two assists in a 7-4 win over the Owen Sound Attack on November 17. Locke leads OHL in scoring with 25 goals and 35 assists for 60 points in 22 games.

Jordin Tootoo of the Brandon Wheat Kings was the Western Hockey Player of the Week. The nineteen year old from Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, scored twice and added 7 assists in four games last week.

The Quebec Major Junior Hockey Leagues Offensive Player of the Week was Stephen Dixon of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. In two games last week Dixon scored four goals and added three assists. The QMJHL Defensive Player of the Week was Doug OBrien of the Hull Olympiques. OBrien scored two goals in two games last week.
