Sleigher Earns Player of the Week Honours

Week Number 12

 Right winger Pierre-Luc Sleigher of the Victoriaville Tigres is the Canadian Hockey League Player of the Week for the week ending on December 15, 2002. Each week during the regular season a CHL Player of the Week is selected based on the three member leagues' player of the week.

 In three games last week Sleigher scored five goals and added seven assists as the Tigres recorded a pair of wins and a tie. The native of La Prairie, Quebec recorded four points in each of Victoriaville's three games to improve his season totals to 14 goals and 25 assists. On December 10 Sleigher scored three goals and added an assist in an 8-3 win over the Rimouski Oceanic.

 The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League's Defensive Player of the Week was goaltender Mathieu Poitras of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. In two games last week Poitras recorded a pair of wins and posted a 1.50 goals against average. On December 13 Poitras made 19 saves in a 4-0 win over the Sherbrooke Castors.

 The Western Hockey League's Player of the Week is Dan Baum of the Prince George Cougars. Baum, who played for the WHL's Western Conference in the Hershey Cup All-star Series in November, recorded six points on two goals and four assists in three games last week.

 T.J. Aceti of the Erie Otters was selected as the Ontario Hockey League's Player of the Week. In play last week Aceti recorded three wins posting a 1.33 goals against average and a .950 save percentage. Aceti also recorded his first shutout of the season last week.
