The 2007 Home Hardware Top Prospects game promises to be special. Why? Forty potential NHL stars will be on display.
Let's begin
with Sam Gagner and Patrick Kane. Two London Knight teammates who just recently returned from the World Junior Championship. Gagner the son
of former NHL'er Dave Gagner helped Canada to it's third consecutive gold medal. Kane on the other hand turned in an excellent performance. The Buffalo
native was among the tournament's leading scorers with 9 points..Both are rated in the top 10 of NHL Central Scouting's most recent rankings. Now let's focus on the hometown hero Angelo Esposito. With the game at the Colisee in Quebec, the talented member of the Remparts will be right at home. He is currently ranked Number 1 by NHL Central.
Other highly touted individuals to keep an eye on include Ottawa 67's Logan Couture and Jakub Voracek of the Halifax Mooseheads. He represented the Czech Republic at the World Junior. The Gagner's are not the only family connection. Colton Gillies of the Saskatoon Blades is the nephew of NHL Hall of Famer Clark Gillies. Brandon Sutter is the son of Brent Sutter. The long time NHL star who of course led Canada to 2 straight golden performances at the WJC. Logan MacMillan is the son of former NHL'er Bill MacMillan.
While Don Cherry and Bobby Orr will not be in attendance this time around. The coaching staffs are phenomenal. The winningest coach in terms of Stanley Cups in league history Scotty Bowman will be there. Bowman will be joined by Jacques Demers. Demers guided Montreal to it's last title in 1993. On the other bench, the petit tigre Michel Bergeron. The long time bench boss of the Quebec Nordiques. He is joined by Pat Burns. Burns led New Jersey to the Stanley Cup in 2003. Just to see Burns is spectacular in itself, as the one time coach of the Hull Olympiques continues to fight a battle with cancer.
This is one you don't want to miss and we will have all the action for you starting at 7 eastern on January 17th...
